Development
I worked full-time in various engineering roles from 2013-2020. My previous roles include infrastructure engineering, full stack engineering, and test engineering. Most recently, I worked at MUFG Americas as a member of the cloud engineering team, where we developed the landing zone to allow MUFG to begin their cloud transition. Before that, I worked at Datto, Inc. as a full stack engineer, where I was mostly focused on developing REST APIs to support remote device management.
Research
I am a doctoral student at Osaka Metropolitan University (previously known as Osaka Prefecture University) within the Graduate School of Informatics. I completed my Master's Degree in Spring 2022, and plan to defend my doctoral thesis in Spring 2027.
My main research interest is explainable artificial intelligence. Currently, I am active in a small subfield called "partial interpretability", which tries to combine inherently interpretable methods (glass box models, e.g.) with black box methods in order to balance performance with explainability.
Hobbies
I love music, and am an amateur pianist. I have taken lessons consistently since December 2016, although I don't always find as much time to practice as I would like!
Over the last few years, I have also gained an interest in both weightlifting and general fitness.
